Description

World renown Irish Belleek Pottery established 1858 produced remarkable thin transparent fine Parian China. Honeypots were greatly sought after. Belleek Pottery was blessed with the necessary local raw materials to make pottery – feldspar, kaolin, flint, clay and shale. The results of utilising the available mineral wealth gave full scope to the craftsmanship quickly developing in their pottery artwork.

Crown Devon Honeypot – Small – Vintage 1930s
This is a nice and strong example of a Deco Crown Devon beehive honey pot, with good shaping and texture. The base has a shaped deco-style green base, with a yellow textured exterior. There are bees painted around the pot, and there is one large applied bee on the lid. The lid has a smooth finish with a gap for a spoon in it. It measures approx.12.5cm high x 10.5cm wide at base and has the Crown Devon backstamp underneath. It is in nice clean condition, with just some light craze lines in the glaze to be expected for the age.

Imperial Lenox Pearl Pink Honeypot-circa 1970s
This honeypot is in the shape of a skep beehive and the lid has straw depicting  what would have been used to protect the hive from the elements. It has an incorporated stand to the base.
