Description

The SylvaC name was first used by pottery company Shaw & Copestake in the 1930s, although the factory had been in operation since the late 1890s. Tableware, animal figures and ornaments were all part of the output, along with moulded and matt glazed earthenware vases and novelties

SylvaC Pottery pieces command high prices today. It was bought Oct 1997 for £80.00! Bargin price.

Majolica Minton Stilton Cheese Dome Bell Our stunning majolica Minton pottery Stilton cheese bell in the shape of a beehive decorated with blackberry branches and fruit with heavier branches forming the finial.  The original appeared at the world international exhibition in London in 1862.  This centre piece would have been used at a Victorian banquet to present the last course of cheese.  The piece is glazed in rich hues of browns, greens and blues with the interior dome glazed in a robin egg blue:  circa unknown. *The dome measures 31cm high to top of the finial x 23cm in diameter *The plate measures 35.5cm in diameter x 5cm high *This substantial set weighs approx. 6kg Set is very good condition. NO chips , cracks or repairs- see photos. A gorgeous majolica piece for any collector!

Crown Devon Honeypot – Small – Vintage 1930s
This is a nice and strong example of a Deco Crown Devon beehive honey pot, with good shaping and texture. The base has a shaped deco-style green base, with a yellow textured exterior. There are bees painted around the pot, and there is one large applied bee on the lid. The lid has a smooth finish with a gap for a spoon in it. It measures approx.12.5cm high x 10.5cm wide at base and has the Crown Devon backstamp underneath. It is in nice clean condition, with just some light craze lines in the glaze to be expected for the age.
