Sarah Monk- Honeycomb Disk- one off for The Hive- 1994
Heres some of her bio from her website-
"I make small batch slipware in my Herefordshire studio at Eastnor Pottery, near Ledbury. Designs, include a unique selection of bathroom and kitchen wares. My approach to potting is relaxed and playful, every piece is treated with an excitement and love of the material, I hope this translates through to the finished pieces.
Cups and bowls are wheel thrown, I slab build individual soap dishes and flower bricks and press-mould plates. Slips and colourful underglazes are brushed and splattered. Sgraffito designs are freely etched into the clay, making the pieces pleasingly tactile. All creating happens at the wet clay stage and I finish every piece with a simple lead-free glaze. Little pieces of art for your home, to use and cherish. I’ve been a selected professional member of the Craft Potters Assocition UK since 1994. My work is regularly exhibited at Contemporary Ceramics, Bloomsbury, London"
Wooden Honey Dipper
The traditional honey spoon and a must have at the breakfast table to avoid messy drips everywhere. The spoon it kept in the honeypot of jar and is used to transfer the honey that is caught in the grooves from the container to the object your sweetening.
DO NOT put it in the food source or use it to stir with. Only to transfer the honey. This way you keep your dipper and your honey clean of any foreign matter. A slight turning motion as you raise it out of the container will catch the drip before it falls. Stop the motion once you have the dipper over your food source and it will begin to drip, drizzle it about as needed. To stop the drip, twist it again catching the dripping tail. Do not put it in a dishwasher, lightly rinse it off once in a while. It must be completly dry before putting it back in your honey. Too much water makes honey ferment (go bad).
